FRP hoods are "thicker" than Factory Hoods, it may be necessary to adjust all rubber stoppers. Some may need to be trimmed or removed completely. FRP Hoods are stiffer than factory steel/aluminum hoods, which factory hoods can actually twist to follow the fender line, even if one fender is lower than the other. Fender alignment may need to be adjusted for proper alignment.

Fiberglass hoods are one of the most popular aftermarket upgrades for both cars and trucks. Fiberglass also known as FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) is a material that is lightweight, durable, and easily formed into complex shapes.

A few of the benefits of aftermarket fiberglass hoods are that they are lightweight and allow you to alter the look of your vehicle without investing in high paint and labor costs. Some of the more popular styles of fiberglass hoods also offer improved engine cooling thanks to strategically placed vents that will either vent cool air to the engine bay or extract hot air out of the engine bay. Some applications actually direct cold air directly to the air intake system in a ram air or shaker-style hood.
